A Domain (sometimes called a "Domain Name")

WHAT IS IT
- a record of ownership of a piece of the interweb - you have to pay to register it
- a pointer to that piece of the interweb - you need to know where it's located
- a unique IP (Internet Protocol) address  (Article Link: https://www.lifewire.com/what-is-an-ip-address-2625920 )
You'll need to make sure the domain name/IP Address is not already taken.  You can check on https://www.whois.com/whois/.

WHERE CAN I GET ONE
- Domain Registrar's are everywhere - just search "domain registration" - we've used namecheap.com
- prices vary - shop around

WHAT DOES IT DO
- once a domain name is registered, the domain name must be linked/related to the nameservers which are used by the company that provides your hosting (server)
